Flag Football

The Hammonton Hawks summer flag football league launched in 2021. The purpose of the league is for kids to have fun and “ball out”. This is a lighthearted game that focuses on throwing dimes, catching bombs, and breaking ankles (this is a metaphor that the kids use). Games will be played on Mondays and Wednesdays between 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM under the lights at William T Capella field. Week 1 is June 24th and season will conclude 7/31. There will be no practices, drills, or conditioning. Kids will learn the very basics of throwing, catching, and running with the football. Defense will teach the concept of pulling flags and stopping the runner’s momentum. There is no blocking or contact permitted in this league. Kids are encouraged to wear cleats and mouthpiece is optional. Teams are determined by the grade the player is entering in the upcoming school year (not the grade just completed). It is broken down as follows:

                                                 *  Taxi: 1^st and 2^nd grade

                                                 *  Peewee: 3^rd and 4^th grade

                                                 *  JV: 5^th and 6^th grade

                                                 *  Varsity: 7^th and 8^th grade
