Hammonton Hawks Summer Flag Football League


Founded in 2021, the Hammonton Hawks Summer Flag Football League was created to provide a fun, inclusive, and high-energy environment where young athletes can learn the game of football while enjoying summer competition with friends. Our mission is to promote teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship while allowing players to develop skills in a positive, low-pressure setting where kids can truly “ball out.”


Girls Flag Football is now recognized as one of the fastest-growing sports in the region, and the NJSIAA has officially sanctioned Girls Flag Football as a varsity high school sport beginning with the 2026–27 school year. The Hammonton Hawks organization is proud to help provide a developmental pathway for athletes interested in continuing flag football at the high school and collegiate levels, while creating opportunities for both boys and girls to grow within the sport.


Hawks Summer Flag Football registration is now open and will close on Friday, May 22nd. The league will run from June 22nd through July 29th, with games played Monday and Wednesday nights between 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM under the lights at William T. Cappela Memorial Field.


All boys and girls entering 1st through 9th grade for the Fall 2026 school year are welcome to participate. Teams are determined by the grade the player is entering in the upcoming school year (not the grade just completed).



League Structure


Divisions will be organized as follows:

  • Taxi: Incoming 1st & 2nd Grade
  • Peewee: Incoming 3rd & 4th Grade
  • JV: Incoming 5th, 6th & 7th Grade
  • Varsity: Incoming 8th & 9th Grade

Divisions are subject to change based on enrollment.



There will be no practices, drills, or conditioning sessions. Players will learn the fundamentals of throwing, catching, running with the football, and defensive concepts such as pulling flags and stopping a runner’s momentum. No blocking or contact is permitted, ensuring a safe and fun experience for all participants. Players are encouraged to wear cleats, and mouthpieces are optional.

Due to the overwhelming demand and continued growth of the league:

  • There will be no special requests for teams or coaches.
  • No late registrations will be accepted due to the NFL uniform ordering deadline.
