The Hawks proudly wear the powder blue uniform and have represented the town of Hammonton since 1958. The Hawks organization aims to inspire the youth of the Hammonton High School, sending districts to practice good sportsmanship and physical fitness. To this end, it shall be the specific purposes of this team to:

·        Teach football fundamentals, clean play, and better prepare youth who may choose to participate in high school football.

To ensure the safety of the children in our community, we play in a weighted league with limits as follows:

·        Varsity 185lbs – 7th and 8th grade

·        JV 155lbs – 5th and 6th grade

·        Peewee 125lbs – 3rd and 4th grade

·        Taxi 100lbs – 1st and 2nd grade

Practice begins the 2nd week of August, and the preseason lasts through Labor Day, with practice held at the Lake park Monday-Friday between the hours of 5:45-8:00. The preseason is a test for the young men and women who come through our program. Not only do they learn the game of football, but they find the meaning of team, discipline, commitment, adversity, and brotherhood/sisterhood. Many successful men and women of the community credit the Hawks organization for instilling these character traits in them from an early age.

Games are played on Saturday afternoon/evening and consist of both home and away games during the months of September and October. Week 1 and 2 of November are dedicated to the playoffs. Upon the start of the school year, practices are Tuesday-Thursday and an early Saturday morning walk-through with limited equipment.

Hawks players are encouraged to wear their game jerseys to school on Fridays. This is symbolic and represents the hard work invested in the preseason.

“Football is like life. It requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and respect for authority.”

— Vince Lombardi
